Narada's question

Brahma insisted his sons to get married. Only through materialistic reality one can experience Maya. So he wanted to get his sons married.

Narada, one of the sons of Brahma was not interested in marriage. He hated materialistic reality. So he went to Sreeman Narayana and questioned about Maya. He thought that if the lord explains, he would be able to understand Maya.

Sreeman Narayana, instead of answering Narada, told Narada to fetch water to quench his thirst. He also added that after drinking water, he would explain what Maya was. Narada agreed and went to the river.

While fetching water in the river, Narada saw a beautiful girl. He was drawn towards her by her immense beauty. So he approached her and asker her hand for marriage.

Narada married the girl. He became father, then grand father and later on, he became great grand father.

One day, it rained heavily. The rain didn't stop. The river started flooding and broke it's banks and washed away Narada's wife, children, grand children and great grand children.

Narada cried bitterly and jumped into the river. Suddenly he found himself beside Sreeman Narayana in Vaikunta. He asked about his lost family.

Sreeman Narayana asked Narada whether he fetched water from the river. But Narada stood crying. Then Sreeman Narayana smiled and told Narada that it was Maya. He also told that one has to experience Maya through materialistic reality and not through explanation.
