The ocean of milk was churned by Devas and Asuras. Meru was taken as the churning staff and the serpent Vasuki was used as the churning rope.                Devas tried to carry the mountain Meru but it was too heavy even for all of them put together.                 Jaya and Vijaya were gate keepers of Vaikuntha, the abode of Lord Vishnu. Once, four sons of Brahma called Sanat-Kumars tried to enter Vaikuntha.              While entering Vaikuntha, they were stopped by Jaya and Vijaya as the lord was asleep at that time. Annoyed by the act of Jaya and Vijaya, Sanat-Kumars cursed them to be born as Asuras away from the lord Vishnu.              The curse took immediate effect and Jaya and Vijaya entered the womb of Diti. They emerged into the materialistic world as Asura brothers named Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu.              Both Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu were best examples for reverse devotion. Since they were not interested to leave lord's abode, they performed vile deeds that would force lord Vishnu to descend from Vaikuntha and liberate them.          ...
