Srichoornam - Significance of Lord Vishnu
The sacred mark of Vishnu - Srichoornam or Urdhva namam or Thiruman should be worn in twelve places in the body from head to stomach.
The left white line of Srichoornam indicates intellectual reality and right white line indicates emotional reality. Both the lines together indicate spiritual reality. The middle red line indicates material reality.
The upward orientation of these three lines indicates spiritual growth and material growth.
Vishnu is God who celebrates infinite growth, both material and spiritual.
Spiritual growth is the super power to overcome the emotions so that one gets the wisdom to appreciate and enjoy all things whether it is materialistic or immaterialistic.
One is happy when the material world favours and not unhappy when it is not. This can happen only if material growth is powered by intellectual growth.
Also, intellectual growth has the ability to control emotions caused by the materialistic world.
On wearing Srichoornam or thiruman regularly and sincerely, one can experience intellectual growth and ultimately attain spiritual growth.
